Vince's Story

I think about his donor everyday.

Vince  |  Liver and kidney recipient

As the oldest of three boys, Vince races around with his younger brothers in the backyard and climbs on the family’s playground, just like any other growing boy. However, what sets Vince apart from most children is that he received a liver and kidney transplant.

After suffering from an extremely rare disease, which only affects one in 500,000 children, Vince spent his early childhood weak and fragile and his mother, Lori, was always afraid of losing her son.

However, a miracle arrived when seven-year-old Vince was flown to Stanford Hospital to receive a liver and kidney transplant. Since his transplant, Vince has a quality of life that wouldn’t be possible without the gift from his donor.

“I think about his donor everyday,” Lori said. “She gave my son a life.”
