Doug's Story

It’s important for Donor Alliance to realize that there are so many people like me who have been saved by their work.
Doug | Liver Recipient
Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Doug Baker would say that his story is truly inspiring. Doug had a prospering business and was a talented musician when he was diagnosed with liver disease. His doctors gave him only four years to live and he was put on the transplant list. Even as Doug’s condition worsened he remained hopeful and on July 8, 2004 he received a call that a liver was waiting for him.
Since Doug’s transplant, he has continued to write and perform music for his band, Sweetmo. Many of his songs reflect his experience during his illness and the second chance at life he’s received since his transplant.
Today, Doug does all he can to help spread the word about organ and tissue donation. He regularly visits patients in the transplant ward and offers words of inspiration that they too will once again have a healthy, normal life. He often speaks on behalf of Donor Alliance about his experience and says that having an organ transplant not only saved his life but also changed his life perspective in a positive way.
"Donor Alliance is an organization that does so much good for the community," Doug said. "It’s important for Donor Alliance to realize that there are so many people like me who have been saved by their work."
