DONOR ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES TWO NEW BOARD ROSTERS AND SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR 2008
Changes for 2008 include new mission and vision statements for the organization
Denver—January 24, 2008—Donor Alliance, the organ procurement organization and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank serving Colorado and most of Wyoming, has announced their new Governing and Advisory Board rosters and slate of officers for 2008.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued new board regulations for organ procurement organizations requiring a shift from one Governing Board to two separate boards which went into effect in January of 2007. Under these conditions, the Governing Board acts as the full, legal authority for management and provision of all organizational services. The Advisory Board is responsible for recommending policies related to organ recovery to the Governing Board.
“Our Governing and Advisory Boards have been instrumental in helping us build a strategic plan that will allow us to transplant more organs and tissues and save more lives,” said Sue Dunn, president and CEO of Donor Alliance. “In looking ahead to 2008, the Governing Board voted to change the mission statement to better communicate Donor Alliance’s dedication to the lifesaving work of getting more people transplanted.”
“Both boards are dedicated to working together to help end the wait for the more than 1,700 people who currently need a transplant,” said Brad Kornfeld, chair of the Governing Board of Directors. “In order to achieve this, we will rely on the expertise and commitment of each member to donation as we collectively serve the transplant community in Colorado and Wyoming.”
