DONOR ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES 2009 GOVERNING BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND SLATE OF OFFICERS
Additions include Hospital COO, former Ethics Committee Chair and Local Transplant Surgeon
Denver—March 5, 2009—Donor Alliance, the organ procurement organization and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank serving Colorado and most of Wyoming, has announced their Governing Board of Directors for 2009. This accompanies a new slate of officers for the calendar year.
New to the Governing Board is John P. Harney, who recently relocated to Denver from NYU Hospitals Center in New York where he has worked since 1986, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Harney currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of University of Colorado Hospital.
Judy Hutchison, retired, joins the Governing Board after serving as Chair of Donor Alliance’s Ethics Committee. Most recently Ms. Hutchison was a Faculty Associate of ‘Program in Medical Ethics, Humanities and Law’ at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
W. Ben Vernon, MD moves to the Governing Board after years of service to Donor Alliance through his work as Chair of the Advisory Board, responsible for recommending policies related to organ recovery to the Governing Board. Dr. Vernon is a local transplant surgeon who currently works as the Medical Director of Centura Transplant Services at Porter Adventist Hospital.
“The Governing Board of Directors continually supports the deliberate work of Donor Alliance’s staff to improve current processes, refine educational tactics and continue the high quality service to donor families, hospitals and community partners,” said Sue Dunn, president and CEO of Donor Alliance. “This year, new leaders will join veterans as we work collectively to achieve our mission of saving lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.”
Under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) board regulations for organ procurement organizations, the Governing Board acts as the full, legal authority for management and provision of all organizational services.
2009 Governing Board of Directors roster:
Nancy Williams JD, BS serves as the Governing Board of Directors Chair. Ms. Williams is an attorney working with consulting firm EnnisKnupp + Associates as a Partner.
John P. Harney, BA, MBA, ACHE serves on the Governing Board of Directors as Chair Elect. He is the Chief Operating Officer of University of Colorado Hospital.
Kenyada Meadows CIA, MAcc serves as the Secretary/Treasurer on the Governing Board of Directors and is the Manager of Internal Audits for Qwest Internal Audit.
Carol Gregory, RN, MSN, MBA is the Chief Nursing Officer for The Medical Center of Aurora.
Judy Hutchison, MA formerly served as Chair of Donor Alliance’s Ethics Committee.
Igal Kam, MD is the Kidney & Liver Surgical Director for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Liver Transplant and Transplant Surgery.
Bradley T. Kornfeld Esq. is an attorney and real estate broker and works as a Partner with Kornfeld Koslosky Properties, LLP. Mr. Kornfeld is also a living kidney donor and past Chair.
