Organ Allocation

Make a decision to save lives.  Then tell your family.

In Colorado and Wyoming more than 2,100 people are currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant and of those, 1,528 are currently waiting for a kidney—the most needed organ (72% of need) and 526 people are waiting for a liver (24% of need).

•14% of current transplant candidates in Colorado have been on the waiting list for five years or longer.
•One donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation and save and heal more than 100 lives through tissue donation. In fact, each year, the lives of approximately 500,000 Americans are saved by organ and tissue donation.
•Recoverable organs include heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas and small bowel and tissues that are recoverable include bone, tendons and corneas as well veins, valves and skin.
