Advocate Spotlight: Melody Connett

Donor Alliance Advocates for Life are the heart and soul of our efforts to inspire and educate our community about the importance of signing up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor in Colorado and Wyoming. Each of our Advocates have their own unique and inspiring story to tell. In this Advocate Spotlight, meet Melody Connett, a passionate Donor’s Mother from Englewood, CO. Melody has been a dedicated Advocate for Life for 15 years!

Get to Know Melody Connett in this Month’s Advocate Spotlight:

What’s your favorite memory of volunteering at Donor Alliance? My favorite part about volunteering with Donor Alliance is learning the facts and science. I like learning about new advances.

What is your favorite season & why? Fall…because it has the most beautiful colors and days with plenty of warmth, yet cool enough in the evening to draw people together…and it invites a feeling of completion.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment was riding on the Donate Life float in the Rose Bowl Parade.

What is the last book you read? Would you recommend it? I read The Yellow House by Sarah Broom and I highly recommend it, though it starts slow.

What song would you sing at karaoke night? Bridge Over Troubled Water

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Do justly, do mercy and walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.

If you’re interested in volunteering with us we’d love to have you join our Advocates for Life program! Get started.
