Leadership in Action
For more than two decades, Brad Kornfeld has been a tireless advocate, a dedicated leader, and a living example of the life-changing power of organ donation. Brad retired from Donor Alliance’s Governing Board of Directors in December 2025. To honor his extraordinary contributions, the organization named him Board Member Emeritus, ensuring that his connection to the mission he helped shape endures long beyond his formal tenure.
Brad’s commitment to donation and transplantation was forged through deeply personal experiences. In 1993, his father became one of the world’s first successful double-lung transplant recipients, a moment that transformed Brad’s perspective forever. In 2004, he made the profound and courageous decision to donate his own kidney to his father, becoming both a living donor and the son of a recipient. It was that same year that he joined the Donor Alliance Governing Board, bringing with him a rare and powerful dual perspective that would shape his advocacy for the next two decades.
During his tenure, Brad served on multiple committees, played an integral role in selecting the organization’s current executive leadership team, helped pass the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act in Colorado, and served on the national Board of Directors of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network—one of the few living donors ever to do so.
Brad’s legacy stands as a towering reminder that one person’s YES, whether at the DMV, in a hospital room, or in a boardroom, has the power to make an impact and save lives for generations to come.
