Donor Dash 5K to Celebrate the Gift of Life Together, Though Apart

May 4, 2021

Donor-Dash-2021With the health and safety of the donation and transplantation community in mind, the 22nd Annual Donor Dash 5k will be held virtually on Sunday, July 18, with an interactive, in-person packet pick-up in Denver’s Washington Park on Saturday, July 17.

The Donor Dash 5K Run for Life attracts thousands of participants of all ages from across the nation to honor the lives of organ, eye and tissue donors; celebrate the lives of organ, eye and tissue recipients; and recognize those who continue to wait for a lifesaving transplant. With historic participation above the city of Denver’s recently updated outdoor event threshold of 5,000 individuals, public health officials advise encouraging smaller local and team gatherings to prioritize the safety and health of the donation and transplantation community.

“This was a difficult decision for our team, however the donation and transplantation community includes many with specialized healthcare needs and we have a responsibility to put the health and safety of our participants, staff, and volunteers first,” said Jennifer Prinz, president and CEO of Donor Alliance. “Its not in alignment with the spirit of our event or the altruistic gift of life to restrict participation so we’ll be celebrating virtually one more time.”

Registration for this year’s event opens on May 1 at a reduced cost of $20 for adults and $15 for youth and seniors. Participants can register for the Donor Dash by forming a team or registering as individuals. Online team registration for the event is open until Sunday, July 11 and for individuals until Thursday, July 15. All registrants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and will be provided the option for postal mail delivery or packet pick-up. Activities will include interactive, in-person packet pick-up, virtual 5K run/walk and honorary program. Full schedule of events below.
