The Foundation will fund education, family assistance and research efforts of those working in the field of organ and tissue donation and transplantation

The Donor Alliance Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to ensure those affected by organ and tissue donation are acknowledged, supported and given access to resources that enable the gift of life, has announced the launch of its grantmaking program and its 2018 board of directors. The Donor Alliance Foundation will fund nonprofit organizations in Colorado and Wyoming benefitting residents in the two-state area. Foundations, hospitals, transplant programs, universities, medical schools, governmental agencies and community health-serving organizations supporting donation and transplantation are encouraged to apply.

“We are thrilled to launch The Donor Alliance Foundation’s grantmaking program and open our first grantmaking cycle,” said Jennifer Moe, The Donor Alliance Foundation executive director. “Joined by a knowledgeable and committed board of directors, we will work collectively to build partnerships and break down barriers to positively affect the donation and transplant community across Colorado and Wyoming.”

The Donor Alliance Foundation will focus on three grantmaking areas in 2018: education, family assistance and research. Qualifying organizations can apply to receive funding to:

• offer education on donation and transplantation through hospitals, governmental agencies and community health-serving organizations;
• provide funding for grief assistance and compassion support for donor families;
• provide support for living donors, people who are waiting for a transplant or who are post-transplant and their families;
• fund scholarships for students studying in the area of donation and transplantation (i.e., nursing students, medical students, mortuary science students, master-level social work students); and
• conduct clinical and social research to further the donation and transplantation field.
