A group of Wyoming organizations all connected around organ, eye and tissue donation came together for the one mission – to inspire people to share love and save and heal lives in our community.
A heart as big as Wyoming
In September 2023, the State of Wyoming proclaimed itself a “Donate Life Community” state, PR/Communications Manager for Donor Alliance Heather Burke said in a recent press release about the state’s newest license plate. Donor Alliance works with Wyoming and Colorado facilitating grassroots efforts and positivity around organ, eye and tissue donation.

The non-profit organization Donor Alliance and the Wyoming Department of Transportation have teamed to offer special “Donate Life” Wyoming license plates.

A Uinta County father and son’s diligence to raise awareness around organ, eye, and tissue donation can now be seen on vehicles across Wyoming. “Each Wyomingite who installs the Donate Life Wyoming license plate on their vehicle is literally saving and healing lives,” said Jennifer Prinz, President and CEO of Donor Alliance.

Bryson Quinney, Lyman, received a new lease on life and the chance to grow and play like a normal boy when he received his heart transplant some time ago. This transplant didn’t come easily, and he was on the list for a donor for some time before he received his heart transplant. But the outcome has been tremendous for Bryson and his parents, Eric and Jennylin Quinney.

Cheyenne Post – Wyoming and Colorado organ donations increase by more than ten percent
The number of lives in the Mountain West saved by organ donation continues to rise. According to the nonprofit Donor Alliance, there were 918 organ transplants in Wyoming and Colorado in 2023. That's a 10.6 percent increase over the year before. Those transplants came from 307 donors.

According to WYDOT, anyone interested in increasing awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation may apply for the new, distinctive “Donate Life” license plates. “When you say ‘yes’ to registering as an organ and tissue donor, it is an opportunity for another life to be saved and healed. Every year, organ and tissue transplants provide hope to tens of thousands of people suffering from disease, injury, or trauma,” Heather Burke, Donor Alliance Public Relations and Communications Manager told the Telegram.
