Colorado Driver’s License Offices honored for state’s organ & tissue donor designation rate

April 30, 2013

On April 30th, the final day of National Donate Life Month 2013, representatives from the Colorado Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles  and Driver’s License Office were presented with a gold medal from Donate Life America in recognition of Colorado’s high percentage of residents who have generously pledged to be organ, eye and tissue donors through the state’s donor registries.  The award was presented by Donor Alliance, the federally-designated, non-profit organ procurement organization serving Colorado and most of Wyoming. Colorado was one of only 10 states to receive the important distinction. At the close of 2012, Colorado had one of the highest donor designation rates in the nation at 66.5 percent.
