All Ways to Register

1. At the DMV
+-

Say YES when renewing or obtaining your license or ID. A heart icon on your license indicates your legally binding donor status, recognized by medical professionals in emergency situations.

2. Online via State Registry:
+-

Register anytime through Donate Life Colorado or Donate Life Wyoming. You can specify which organs or tissues you’re willing to donate through the online form, giving you control over your donor preferences.

3. National Donate Life Registry:
+-

Sign up online at RegisterMe.org to add your decision to the national registry. This ensures your donor status is recognized, even if you move or travel outside Colorado or Wyoming.

4. Through MyChart:
+-
  1. In collaboration with Donate Life America and Epic, MyChart users in Colorado and Wyoming can register directly in their patient portal.
    • Nearly 99% of registrations currently happen at the DMV, but MyChart offers a secure, convenient alternative.

Your decision stays confidential—not visible to your healthcare provider. Only donation professionals can access it if donation becomes possible.

What Happens After You Register

If you say YES at the DMV, your decision is added to the state’s confidential donor registry, and a small heart symbol appears on your driver’s license or state ID.

If you register online or through MyChart, your decision is securely stored in the state and/or national donor registries. Your donor status remains in effect unless you choose to update or remove it.

Tell Your Family and Loved Ones

Even though your decision is legally binding, talking to your family is one of the most important things you can do. It ensures they understand your choice and gives them peace of mind. A short conversation today can make a world of difference tomorrow.
