Have questions about the 2022 Donor Dash? Great, we have answers! Check out the below compilation of frequently asked questions to learn more. Didn’t find what you were looking for? Connect with us at @DonateLifeColorado on Facebook and send us your questions.
Q: With concerns around COVID-19 and variants, is Donor Dash still happening? When is the 2022 race?
A: The 23rd Annual Donor Dash 5k will be held in person at Washington Park on Sunday, July 17. You are able to participate virtually and at home as well. You will track your time at home through the RunKeeper app.
B. To maintain our historical priority at the park, we plan Donor Dash for the third Sunday of every July, but that is subject to park availability.
Q: Can participants still complete the 5k Run/Walk virtually?
A: Yes, participants can still join us virtually this year from wherever they are by adding a $6.00 shipping fee to their registration and getting their packets mailed to them. Complete the 5K virtually and track your time on race day through the RunKeeper App.
Q: Can I get my packet mailed to me and still complete the 5K Run/Walk in person at Washington Park?
A: Yes, participants may choose to have their packets mailed to them during the initial online registration process. In order to keep registration costs down, a shipping fee will be charged to cover the cost of mailing the packet. In order to ensure packets will arrive before the event, participants must register and select the shipping option prior to 11:59pm on Sunday, June 19.
Q: Is there going to be a balloon release at the end of the Donor Dash program?
A: Over the past few years, we have received concern from our participants about the balloon release at the Annual Donor Dash. We have made the decision to no longer include the balloon release to better protect our community and all species that call Colorado home. On July 17, we look forward to honoring the generosity of organ, eye and tissue donors and their families, celebrating the lives of transplant recipients and recognizing those who continue to wait. If you have any questions or concerns about this decision, we invite you to reach out to us at email@example.com. Thank you for your understanding and as always, for your continued support of the Donor Dash.
Q: I am a team captain, where am I supposed to pick up all my teams’ packets?
A: As a team captain, you are in charge of collecting all of your team members packets at packet pick up on Wednesday, July 13 at Donor Alliance or the morning of the race.
Q: I am a team captain and I can’t make it to packet pick-up. What do I do?
A: You can designate one person to pick up your teams packets for you. Please email Tina, the team liaison the first and last name of the designee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: I am a team captain and I’m having trouble exporting my team roster from Race Roster. How do I get help with that?
A. No worries team captains, we got you covered! If you are having trouble/are unable to export your team roster from Race Roster please reach out to email@example.com to receive a roster with ALL of your team information, including who chose to get their packets shipped and team members t-shirt sizes.
Q: Will you be hosting the Diaper Dash this year?
A. Yes we will! We will have waivers on race day. Stay tuned to learn where exactly it will be held on race day!
Q: Where does registration money go?
A: Your registration fee helps cover the cost of the event including timing, t-shirts, infrastructure, permitting, safety, race animation and marketing costs. The Donor Dash is an awareness-raising event and proceeds are applied to improve the event in an effort to further educate and inspire support of organ, eye and tissue donation in our community.
Q: Where does the money go when I fundraise or contribute above and beyond my event registration fees?
A: Your contribution aides our efforts to maximize organ and tissue donation and transplantation, helping save and heal the lives of hundreds every year. This generous gift will assist in our efforts to inspire community support of donation, help advance professional education, as well as bolster clinical and family services.
