Advocate Spotlight: Louann Dicus

Donor Alliance Advocates for Life are the heart and soul of our efforts to inspire and inform our community about the importance of signing up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor in Colorado and Wyoming. Each of our Advocates have their own unique and inspiring story to tell. In this Advocate Spotlight, meet Louann Dicus, a passionate Liver Recipient from Littleton, CO. Louann has been a dedicated Advocate for Life for 5 years!

What’s your favorite memory of volunteering at Donor Alliance? All the stories I have heard that people I meet at events share with me. Most feel so strongly about being involved with Donate Life and the importance of donation.

What is your favorite season & why? My favorite season is Fall of course, with all of nature’s splendor on display. The variation of color changes daily September through mid-November.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment is being able to expose my grandchildren to hundreds of experiences and adventures the past 20 years. It was my favorite job, hands down, out of all the paid and unpaid employment throughout my life. Little people are so enthusiastic, and wide open to new experiences.

What is the last book you read? Would you recommend it? The last book I read was Facing the Mountain: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in WWII by Daniel James Brown. Such a good snapshot into how the American government treated Japanese Americans during WWII.

What song would you sing at karaoke night? I love to sing! I have many favorites, but I will say Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? The best advice I’ve received is learn how to listen more and talk less. This is personal advice for me!
